Teachers Train in Croatia to Bring the EMME App to Life

Zagreb, Croatia | March 28 – April 3, 2025

The EMME – Exchanging Memories, Memory of the Earth project took another leap forward with a dynamic staff training session held in Zagreb, hosted by OŠ Pantovčak. This key event, part of Work Package 3 – #EMME Goes Digital, focused on finalizing the development of the EMME mobile app — an innovative educational tool that supports outdoor learning, geoscience exploration, and sustainability.

Teachers and coordinators from all partner institutions gathered to collaborate on the app’s structure, features, and content. The training included hands-on workshops, testing of the current prototype, and detailed planning sessions on how to integrate learning content into the app in a user-friendly and gamified way.

In addition to the technical work, participants explored key natural and cultural sites, including the Museum of Krapina Neanderthals, Papuk Nature Park, and Jankovac Forest Park. These visits provided inspiration for creating authentic, field-based learning experiences that students will later access through the app.

The training concluded with the official assignment of curriculum modules to partner institutions and a clear timeline for development and testing:

Geology – University of Bucharest

Ecology – ESJEA, Portugal

Sustainability – ZŠ Hutnícka, Slovakia

Culture & Heritage – GeoAçores

Mapping & Spatial Skills – OŠ Pantovčak

The week-long programme ended with a strong sense of partnership, digital confidence, and anticipation for the app’s pilot phase. The EMME App is expected to be launched in Spring 2025, offering students a new way to learn, explore, and connect with the memory of the Earth — right from their mobile devices.
