Launching EMME Curriculum During ErasmusDays 2024
October 18, 2024 | Zoom Platform

As part of the official ErasmusDays 2024 celebrations, Liceul Teoretic „Avram Iancu” Brad hosted an international online conference to launch the innovative EMME Curriculum – Memory of the Earth, developed through the Erasmus+ project EMME – Exchanging Memories, Memory of the Earth.
Held on October 18th, 2024, the digital event brought together a wide network of teachers, curriculum developers, students, and environmental experts to discuss how geological heritage, local culture, and sustainability can reshape the way we teach and learn.
The online format enabled nationwide participation, with guests from across Romania and from partner organizations in Portugal, Croatia, and Slovakia. The conference showcased the collaborative efforts behind the curriculum and invited Romanian schools to explore its five interdisciplinary modules:
*Geology & Paleontology
*Ecology & Biodiversity
*Environmental Stewardship
*Local History & Culture
*Mapping & Spatial Skills
The event featured presentations from the project team and UNESCO Global Geoparks, live interaction with teachers and students involved in pilot sessions, and a playful Kahoot quiz testing participants’ knowledge of Earth’s memory.
Speakers emphasized the importance of reconnecting students with the natural world and using local landscapes as educational resources. The conference ended with a collective commitment to expand the curriculum’s reach and ensure that the values of sustainability and place-based learning continue to grow in European schools.
The event marked the conclusion of Work Package 2 and demonstrated the impact of Erasmus+ partnerships in building meaningful and lasting educational tools — all while celebrating ErasmusDays in true collaborative spirit.
