WORK PACKAGE NO. 4
Digital Repository – “Memories of the Earth” Video Documentaries
The Digital Repository – “Memories of the Earth” brings together the voices, experiences, and discoveries of the students who participated in the EMME project mobilities. Created during field activities in the Hațeg Country UNESCO Global Geopark (Romania) and the Azores UNESCO Global Geopark (Portugal), these video documentaries capture the authentic perspectives of young learners as they explore geology, heritage, culture, and sustainability.
Each documentary serves as a “human book” — a real story told through the eyes of students, blending scientific understanding with personal reflection. The films illustrate how students interpreted the landscapes, engaged with experts, connected with local communities, and developed environmental awareness through immersive, hands-on learning.
Organised as a Digital Human Library, the collection allows teachers, students, and community members to:
*discover the Earth’s memory through student narratives
*observe learning in action in two unique UNESCO Global Geoparks
*compare different environments, cultures, and sustainability challenges
*use the documentaries as inspiration for classroom discussions, workshops, or project-based learning
The two central chapters of this collection — “Memories of Hațeg” and “Memories of the Azores” — stand as powerful testimonies of youth creativity, collaboration, and scientific curiosity. They represent not only the artistic dimension of the EMME project, but also its educational mission: helping students understand the planet by connecting knowledge, experience, and emotion.
All documentaries are available for open access and can be integrated into teaching activities, environmental education programmes, and community awareness events.
